Kick Ass in 2017
Well now is as good a time as any to start prepping for next year and clearing some of those admin tasks off your list. Here’s a couple of things as a business owner you can get ticked off and feel awesome about heading into the new year.
- Website review – whether you are a DIY kind of business or contract to a developer/designer, a quick audit at least once every few months is a good idea – not only for SEO, but to make sure you’re relevant and not misrepresenting anything. Make sure you sitemap is up to date, check for any broken links and redirect any outdated links to tie up loose ends.
- Contents Protection – Whether you work from a home office, a coworking space or a serviced office, you are responsible for your possessions so contents insurance is always a smart move. And often home or personal contents insurance is not enough for business purposes so make sure you get the right cover. And don’t forget to protect your online assets too – reviewing your hosting provider and storage, and backing up regularly helps keeps your business safe online.
- Invoicing and bookkeeping – it’s easier to let invoices slide when you’re busy and forget to chase up debtors, but as most people wind down for summer, now’s the time to get all those unpaid jobs in the bank! If you’re emailing invoices, why not try the ‘pay now’ online invoice function that many accounting and payment gateway providers offer? Stripe, XERO, Paypal and Quickbooks plus many more all do variations of this function.
Finally now’s a great time to reset, take a step back and think about what you want to achieve in the next 12 months – if you can get it in one sentence, great. Keep that as your mantra and stay on track in 2017
